Jon Derek Guthrie (DJ) began his dance training at Dana’s Studio of Dance and North Central Ballet. At the age of 16, DJ went on to join the school of Southern Ballet Theatre where he was offered a full company contract and spent 9 seasons with Orlando Ballet. DJ has been invited as a guest artist for several companies throughout the U.S. as well as touring Italy with the Rome Festival. He is now a member of the professional company SoulEscape, under the direction of Justin Giles. Also, he was featured in a piece choreographed by Mark Meismer in the performance The Final Cut. Recently, DJ performed in a production of the Broadway musical Cats as well as Odyssey Dance Theatre’s Thriller. DJ assisted choreographer Tyce Diorio for the hit show So You Think You Can Dance, where he had the honor of working hands on with the finalists. He now freelances across the nation as a guest artist, teacher and choreographer.
